Melissa Archer

David is a Vice-President in TD Capital's private equity fund of funds and co-investment group. Prior to joining TD Capital, David was a partner at Voorheis & Co., a shareholder advisory and investment firm, where he assisted institutional investors on a range of strategic, financial and management issues related to their portfolio companies and had responsibility for a variety of principal investments. David began his career as an investment banker with BMO Nesbitt Burns where he worked on a variety of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions assignments. David received an AB (Honours) from Harvard University and a BA in Law and Master's in Law and Economics from Oxford University. David also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Roland P. Austrup is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and a Director of Integrated Managed Futures Corp. (IMFC).  Roland has been registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the United States as an Associated Person and Principal since June 1997 and with the Ontario Securities Commission as an Advisor since February 1999. Roland is an associate member of the National Futures Association and a member of the Managed Funds Association. Martin is Associate Director, Human Resources at the University of Western Ontario, where he oversees the staff and faculty retirement plans. His responsibilities include monitoring the plans investment options, developing governance policies and reporting to the pension board. Previously, he worked at the London Life Insurance Company where he was responsible for asset allocation and investment manager monitoring. Michael Beswick
Michael Beswick is an Ontario Governement appointed trustee to the OPSEU Pension Trust Board, the pension plan for the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). Previously he was Senior Vice-president, Pensions for the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), where he worked for over 25 years. Over his career he was very active in the pension industry, mostly with the Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM), of which he was president from 1996 to 1998. Stephen Cotsman has held the position of Managing Director/CEO, CBC Pension Plan since 1995. The CBC Pension Plan is a defined benefit plan with $4 billion in assets. Assets are diversified among numerous portfolios within the major classes of equities, bonds and strategic investments. The Fund is approximately 55% internally managed. Prior to managing the Pension Plan, Stephen was Vice-President, Finance & Administration (CFO) of the CBC for nine years. Michael Dinham
Michael joined ING Wholesale Bank (then ING Barings) in 1996 and is a Managing Director, heading the London-based Infrastructure Team. His 20 years banking experience includes a specialisation in Infrastructure and Utilities for the last 15 years. Michael’s team acts as an arranger of finance and currently manages a senior and mezzanine debt portfolio comprising over 40 infrastructure projects. Michael has extensive knowledge of concessioning, economic regulation and all forms of Public Private Partnership. Besides his UK/European experience, he has advised on successful infrastructure projects in diverse locations including Bulgaria, Hungary, Jamaica, Korea, Philippines and the UAE. Tony is Chief Investment Officer of NYLIM Equity Investors. In this role, he is responsible for setting investment strategy and building or acquiring new investment management expertise. Immediately prior to joining NYLIM as a Senior Managing Director in 2004, Tony was Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager of the Large Cap Growth team of Putnam Investments in Boston, MA, managing more than $25 billion in assets. Stephen is a professor of finance at the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario where he has taught investments, portfolio management and corporate finance since 1987. Stephen wrote the book Financial Management: A Primer and has been published numerous times in academic journals such as The Journal of Finance, as well as practitioner-oriented journals and books. Stephen is a member of a number of advisory boards, including Canadian Investment Review. He previously taught at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he received his MA and PhD. Andrew W. Lo is the Harris & Harris Group Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the director of MIT’s Laboratory for Financial Engineering. He is currently a governor of the Boston Stock Exchange, a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a member of the NASD’s Economic Advisory Board, and founder and chief scientific officer of AlphaSimplex Group, LLC, a quantitative investment management company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Tony Mastandrea
As Senior Vice-president for Lazard Asset Management, Tony has responsibility for institutional investment sales, servicing and relationship management. Prior to joining Lazard in the spring of 2006, Tony was instrumental in the establishment of the institutional division of Trimark and later INVESCO in Eastern Canada as well as parts of Western Canada. Jai Parihar
In 29 years with the province of Alberta, Jai has held a number of positions within the Investment Management Division. Prior to being appointed Chief Investment Officer Jai held the position of Director of Structured Investments, he was responsible for the Canadian equity index fund and the EAFE and US structured equity funds. As Chief Investment Officer, Jai is currently responsible for $63.9 billion in assets, and reports to Deputy Minister, Alberta Finance. Marc Poupart
Marc is Director, Pension and Retirement Programs at the Hudson’s Bay Company. In this role he oversees administration of multiple pension plans, both DB and DC. In addition he oversees the development of communication and education programs for more than 45,000 active and retired members. Richard Price is a Managing Director with ING Clarion Partners, a member of the ING Real Estate Investment Management Global Marketing Group, and the ING Real Estate Investment Management Asian Management Board. Yves Slater
Yves is Director of Actuarial and Development at Commission Administrative des Régimes de Retraite et d’Assurances. CARRA is the administrator of the provincial public sector pension plans in Québec, where there are 524,000 active members and 210,000 retirees. Yves also coordinates the activities of the investment committees of the main plans which assets, invested at the Caisse de depot et placement, amount to $46 billion. Garry Tramer
Garry is the General Manager of the Saskatchewan Healthcare Employees’ Pension Plan (SHEPP) which is the largest defined benefit pension plan in the province. The plna has over 40,000 active, retired, and deferred members with assets in excess of $2.5 billion. He acts as chief executive officer for the plan and is responsible for all aspects of administration and investment. He reports to a jointly trusteed employee/employer appointed Board of Trustees. Dave also manages hedge fund portfolios for Russell clients. Dave joined Russell in 1996 as an equity research analyst for the company’s investment policy and research group. During graduate studies in the University of Washington’s M.B.A. program, Dave worked as an intern in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle economic research department, where he produced analytical information for use in merger/acquisition analysis and strategic planning. He is responsible for asset allocation policy, manager structure, risk management, and provides ongoing support to the board of trustees on investment issues. He is formerly the vice-president and treasurer of the Farm Credit Corporation in Regina and director, investments and liability management with Saskatchewan Finance. Paul Williams
Paul is vice-president, Healthcare and Financial Services Group, Rogers Publishing. He joined Maclean Hunter Publishing in 1989 as editor of Benefits Canada. He is a former editor of the Canadian Investment Review. In 1995 he was appointed publisher of Benefits Canada. He now heads Rogers’ financial media group.
