Toward the goal of facilitating ongoing discussion, BENEFITS CANADA and its partners were pleased to present the Eighth Annual Defined Contribution Plan Summit, February 7-9, 2007 at Banff Springs hotel in Banff, Alberta.
This was a special conference, designed solely for senior-level personnel at DC pension plan sponsor organizations. The spirit of the DC Plan Summit is purely educational; a retreat or "think tank" forum for discussion and debate among leading thinkers in the field of defined contribution plans. Coverage of the conference will be included in an upcoming issue of BENEFITS CANADA.
The theme of the 2007 conference was Out with the Old, In with the New: Guiding older employees into retirement and engaging a new generation of plan members. As the workforce continues to change, the demographic characteristics of plan members play an increasing role in the development, communication and management of a defined contribution plan. Using instructional presentations, case studies and interactive sessions, the 2007 conference focused on addressing education and communication challenges, governance issues, plan design options, and investment choices.
