Allan O'Dette, Director, External Relations, Policy & National Private Markets, GlaxoSmithkline Inc. and Chair Rx&D Private Payers Subcommittee
Allan is the Director of External Relations (Ontario), Policy and National Private Markets for GlaxoSmithKline Canada Inc. Allan has over 20 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having held progressive positions with Eli Lilly, Searle and Pharmacia. He served the industry association for four years as the Ontario Vice-Chair for Canada's Research-based Pharmaceutical companies and is currently the Chair of the National Private Payer Committee.
He is passionate about contributing in the community and assists numerous professional and charity groups with volunteer activities.
Allan holds a B.A. from Trent University and an M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto.
Deidre Date, National Therapy Access Manager, Medtronic
Deidre has worked with Medtronic for more than 11 years in several roles and has been an integral part of the evolution of establishing diabetes technology in Canada. Over the past several years she has worked to help build the platform for diabetes technology reimbursement across Canada with both public and private payers and has developed significant expertise in this field.
Prior to Medtronic, Deidre was a Clinical Diabetes Educator and Dietitian in Diabetes. She completed her honours Science degree at Ryerson University in Toronto in Clinical Nutrition and a Masters of Education in Adult Education Theory from Brock University.
Deidre is very involved with leading and accompanying the National Secondary School qualifiers to the International Science Fair Competition annually.
Dr. Louis Valiquette, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Université de Sherbrooke Louis received his certification from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Infectious diseases (2001) and Medical microbiology (2001). He is a consultant in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS), a 686-bed academic Center in the Province of Quebec.
He completed a Masters in clinical epidemiology at the University of Toronto in 2005. He is an active member of the Quebec’s immunization committee since 2005.
He is a junior clinician scientist of the Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec.
His particular areas of interest include community-acquired pneumonia, antibiotic stewardship, Clostridium difficile infections and the effects of the conjugate anti-pneumococcal vaccine.
Dr. Mark Loeb, Professor, Departments of Pathology and Molecular Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and, Division Director for Infectious Diseases at McMaster University Mark graduated from McGill Medical School in 1990, then completed fellowships in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, and an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at McMaster in 1997.
Mark’s research interests include influenza, West Nile virus, and dengue. Mark is currently conducting a cluster randomized trial of immunizing Hutterite children against influenza in order to reduce transmission in Hutterite colonies.
Other studies include a candidate gene study to assess genetic polymorphisms associated with response to influenza vaccine in Hutterite children and a population genomics study on West Nile virus. Mark has served on numerous national and international advisory committees.
He is Associate Editor, ACP Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine and is Co-editor of the first textbook on Evidence-Based Infectious Diseases.
Anitasha Puodziunas, Senior Lead Oncology Medical Science Liaison—Oncology, BMS Canada Anitasha has been part of BMS Canada’s Medical Affairs department since 2003. She works in bridging clinical application of pipeline oncology discovery molecules between her department and key clinicians and cancer centres across Canada. Anitasha graduated from University of Toronto, earning her Hospital Residency from Sunnybrook/Women’s College Hospital in Toronto and PharmD from University of Shenandoah in Virginia.
She began her oncology pharmacy career at Princess Margaret Hospital where she last served as Pharmacy Practice Manager for UHN Network while maintaining her own clinical practice in BMT and Oncology Practice Leader for PMH. She served on various hospital, provincial and industry committees, contributing to various supportive care systemic therapy guidelines. Anitasha continues to contribute to guidelines initiatives with Multinational Supportive Care in Cancer.
Anitasha was one of the first Canadian pharmacist to earn the American Board Certified Oncology Specialist and now also holds Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
Stephanie Marcovitch, Community Support Specialist, Gastrointestinal Society
Stephanie has a chronic illness. She has suffered with it, and would still be suffering with it every day if she did not have access to an innovative medication. When healthy, she has a lot to offer.
Stephanie is a former executive in the field of Training and Development. She’s worked as a Strategic Business Professional and Motivational Speaker for national and global companies such as Nokia, Motorola, Lyreco, and JW Research. Her publications include: Three Words to Success, ACT–Strategic Guide for Amazing Sales, P3–Powerful and Persuasive Presentations and Negotiate Don't Hesitate! - Winning Negotiations Tactics.
Stephanie has a BA from the University of Guelph, Certificate in Law and Criminal Studies from American University (Washington DC), and is two credits short of a Masters in Science from Northeastern University because her chronic illness.
